ABSTRACT: This research investigates the role of early childhood education in reducing malnutrition among young children. Educating children about nutrition and healthy eating early can contribute to reducing malnutrition rates. Objectives included evaluating children's nutritional status, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term impacts of early nutrition education. A survey design was chosen for its effectiveness in gathering broad data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Imo State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to nutrition education demonstrated improved nutritional knowledge and healthier eating habits. Effective practices included interactive lessons on balanced nutrition, hands-on cooking activities with nutritious ingredients, and involvement in nutrition-focused projects. The study recommended integrating nutrition education into early childhood curricula to promote healthy eating habits and reduce malnutrition rates from an early age.
